Education

Established as Blue Earth High School with the first graduating class in 1896, Blue Earth Area High School currently serves 600 students in grades 9-12, from the communities of Blue Earth, Frost, Winnebago, Delavan, Elmore, and surrounding areas.

Located at the junction of Interstate 90 and US Highway 169, the facilities built in 1994 consist of 40 classrooms in a one-level handicapped accessible building. A 600-seat performing arts center, along with a large open media center with built-in state-of-the-art technology throughout the building, are the main features. Along with excellent music and drama facilities, the high school features a 2000-seat gymnasium.

The high school has been an accredited member of the North Central Association since 1908. Blue Earth Area High School is also a member of the Transformed School Consortium, which has as its goal the improvement of education by creating a personalized education plan for each learner. Preparing students for the 21st century is indeed a task shared jointly by students’, families, and school staff.
