The Blue Earth Valley Quilters will hold the fourth meeting of the 2016-2017 year this Monday, February 20, 2016, at 7:00 pm in the Blue Earth Area High School Choir Room. Please enter through Door V on the south side of the building. After introductions, the meeting will begin with show-and-tell, always an entertaining and inspiring part of the meeting!
The Gypsy Wife Quilt mini-group is continuing work on the project – just a couple months left until assembly of the blocks into a quilt starts. Signup for the Art Institute of Chicago Challenge will continue. These projects are to be completed for the EXPO in August. Booklets for the Minnesota Quilters State Show in Duluth are available at Michele’s in downtown Blue Earth.
The program will be a demonstration by Felicia Hamlin on making a weighted blanket. These are especially helpful for those with insomnia, autism, ADHD, or sensory processing disorders. Commercial weighted blankets can easily cost several hundred dollars, so being able to make one can be very economical. This information may sound familiar – the January meeting was canceled due to weather, so the program was delayed a month.
The Blue Earth Valley Quilters meet on the third Monday of each month (no meeting in July or December) under the umbrella of Blue Earth Area Community Education. Each meeting consists of a brief welcome and introductions, a quilt related demonstration, show and tell, a question and answer session and a few minutes to talk with other quilters. Those who are interested may stay after the meeting for the Block-of-the-Month project. The Blue Earth Valley Quilters has been referred to as a guild without all the rules, a quilt discussion group, or a mini-class in quilting – it is open to everyone who enjoys quilts or quilting – quilters of all skill levels are always welcome!
